Description
The Quantum Brite KRU hop extract delivers the fruit-punch character of Krush (HBC 586): ripe mango and guava, juicy peach, fresh-sliced orange and mixed berry over a light resinous base, in concentrated form that replaces approximately 150g of T90 Krush hop pellets per 5ml bottle. Bred by the Hop Breeding Company in 2007 and trialled for 17 years as experimental variety HBC 586, Krush was released commercially in 2024 by the same program that gave brewers Citra and Mosaic. It arrived with immediate hype, and in extract form KRU delivers that sought-after profile with full consistency and no plant material to manage. In stock at Yeast Platform, shipped from our Australian warehouse.

Flavour Profile
Krush earned its name: the aroma reads like tropical fruit punch. The primary notes are ripe mango and guava, layered with stone fruit (peach) and a bright, fresh-cut navel orange citrus character. Underneath sits a mixed-berry sweetness and a subtle resinous, gently dank note that keeps the profile from becoming one-dimensional candy. It is a complex, saturated fruit profile in the same family as Citra and Mosaic but riper and rounder, without Citra’s sharper grapefruit edge. That makes KRU exceptional as the lead aroma in hazy IPAs and fruit-forward pale ales, and a natural blending partner wherever you already reach for Citra, Mosaic or Galaxy.
Dosing Quantum Brite KRU
Add during cold crash (1 to 4°C) to the fermenter or keg via the included pipette. Shake well before measuring. Start at 1.5ml per 23L batch: Krush is aromatically punchy, and a conservative first dose lets you calibrate how far you push the fruit-punch character. At 2 to 2.5ml per 23L the tropical and stone fruit notes dominate the aroma, the classic Krush expression for hazy IPA. KRU blends naturally with CIT (Citra) at a 50/50 ratio for a juicier citrus-tropical profile, or with MOS (Mosaic) where the shared berry note builds real depth. Refrigerate after opening; use within 6 months.
Krush and Australian Home Brewing
As the newest commercial release from the Hop Breeding Company, Krush pellets reach Australia in small allocations and tend to sell out quickly, and a 2024-release variety carries a premium price per kilo when it is available at all. The Quantum Brite KRU extract removes that supply lottery: one 5ml bottle covers the dry hop of several batches, stores at room temperature until opened, and delivers the same aroma in January as it did the day it arrived. For Australian brewers who want to work with the most talked-about new American hop without hunting for pellet stock, KRU is the practical way in.
In stock at Yeast Platform, shipped from our Australian warehouse. Pair KRU with Quantum Brite CIT (Citra) or Quantum Brite MOS (Mosaic) for a bigger HBC fruit blend.
Recommended Yeasts for Quantum Brite KRU
Krush’s ripe fruit-punch character shines with juicy NEIPA strains and stays vivid over clean American fermenters. These yeasts bring out different facets of the KRU profile.
- Cellar Science Hazy NEIPA Yeast: the ideal base for hazy IPAs finished with KRU, soft body and fruity esters that amplify the mango and guava
- Lallemand Verdant IPA: Verdant’s stone fruit esters echo Krush’s peach note for a layered, saturated hazy profile
- White Labs WLPD066 London Fog: full, silky NEIPA body that carries KRU’s fruit punch while rounding the resinous edge
- Safale US-05: neutral American ale strain for pale ales and West Coast IPAs where the Krush aroma is the undisputed star
