Description
The Quantum Brite GXY hop extract delivers the iconic tropical character of Australia’s flagship Galaxy hop in concentrated, pellet-free form. A single 5ml bottle replaces approximately 150g of T90 Galaxy hop pellets for dry hopping — with zero plant material, zero hop creep, and zero loss to absorption. For Australian home brewers, GXY is the extract to reach for first: Galaxy is a home-grown variety developed in Tasmania, and in concentrated form its passionfruit, citrus, and stonefruit character comes through clean and consistent batch after batch. In stock at Yeast Platform, shipped from our Australian warehouse.

Flavour Profile
Galaxy’s aroma signature is built on passionfruit and tropical fruit, with layers of citrus peel and ripe stonefruit underneath. In extract form, the volatile aromatic compounds that would normally be driven off during a hot-side addition are fully preserved — you get the full Galaxy character with none of the blunting that comes from plant material absorbing finished beer. The extract is particularly effective in NEIPAs and hazy pales where the goal is saturating the finished beer with forward tropical aroma rather than bittering it.
Dosing Quantum Brite GXY
Add during cold crash when the fermenter is at 1–4°C. Shake the bottle well before measuring, then dose directly into the fermenter or keg using the included pipette. Start at 1.5ml per 23L batch (approximately 50% replacement of a typical 50g Galaxy dry hop addition), taste, and adjust up to 2.5ml on subsequent batches. GXY combines well with traditional pellet dry hops — running a 30% extract, 70% pellet split lets you reduce plant material in the fermenter while maintaining the complex surface-area contact of whole-pellet hopping. Store in the fridge after opening and use within 6 months.
Galaxy Hops and Australian Home Brewing
Galaxy is grown in Tasmania and is now one of the most globally recognised Australian hops — the home brewing community here was using it in APAs years before it became an international craft staple. In the Australian home brewing context, access to Galaxy pellets has historically been inconsistent due to harvest variation and export demand. The Quantum Brite GXY extract solves this: it’s available year-round in consistent concentration regardless of harvest availability, stored at room temperature before opening (no freezer space required), and dosed precisely so no expensive hop oil ends up stuck to fermenter walls or lost in trub.

Recommended Yeasts for Quantum Brite GXY
Galaxy’s tropical character performs best alongside yeasts that amplify fruit esters or stay neutral enough to let the hop dominate. These are the strains that make GXY shine.
- Lallemand Verdant IPA — juicy English NEIPA yeast; its stone fruit and peach esters blend seamlessly with Galaxy’s passionfruit and tropical character for an intensely juicy hazy IPA
- White Labs WLPD066 London Fog — produces the silky mouthfeel and tropical ester profile that defines the modern NEIPA; pairs with GXY extract for an all-out tropical bomb
- Safale US-05 — the clean American workhorse; neutral fermentation character lets Galaxy’s aroma drive every sip without competing esters
- Mangrove Jack’s M36 Liberty Bell — high-flocculating American ale strain; clears fast and finishes clean, making it ideal for hop-forward APAs where GXY extract provides the finishing tropical punch
