How to Choose Your Hops

Alpha acid % determines bitterness contribution — high alpha hops (12–17% AA) like Chinook, Galaxy, and El Dorado are efficient for bittering; low to mid alpha hops (4–9% AA) like Cascade, Saaz, and Riwaka are best for aroma and flavour additions. T90 pellet hops are the most widely used format for homebrewing — they’re easy to measure, store well sealed in the freezer, and work for all addition types from bittering to dry hopping.
